Welcome back to our series spotlighting the incredible people that make up the DBC team.
Next up is Alexandra Bacharach, Senior Media Relations Specialist.
What is your role at DBC and what does a typical day look like for you?
I’m a Senior Media Relations Specialist at DBC and I’ve been with the company for almost eight years. My days are spent doing a mix of pitching media, writing bylines and blogs for clients and looking for newsjacking opportunities for our clients where they can leverage their unique POVs or datasets. The news cycle has always been unpredictable, but it seems to have gone into overdrive the past few years, so I am always looking for ways to make sure our clients are staying relevant and getting in the publications that resonate with their business.
What do you like most about working in and supporting clients in this industry?
Being at the forefront of the latest changes shaping the world. Since I started in this space, I’ve seen clients identify streaming, esports and e-commerce as the next big thing. Now, it’s impossible to imagine a world where companies like Netflix and Amazon aren’t major players. It’s exciting working with clients who are continuously looking for and utilizing the next big thing, and I’m looking forward to seeing what will emerge in the coming years.
Favorite ad campaign of all time?
It’s become a yearly thing now, but Spotify Wrapped. It dominates the news cycle and my social feed for a few days, and it seems like every other company has tried to mimic it with their own wrapped-style offering.
What are you watching (or re-watching) on streaming right now?
After what seems like my millionth rewatch of Parks and Recreation, I’ve been watching Pluribus. The first episode hooked me and once again proves that Vince Gilligan can’t miss.
What’s your favorite sport/sports team and what platforms do you watch them on?
The UConn Huskies! As an alum, I try to get to at least one game a season.
This or That?
Pen & paper notes or Google Docs?
Pen and paper. I like writing down my daily to-dos and important notes for clients in a planner. I have so many tabs open on my computer (sorry not sorry), so it’s easier to reference key points in my written notes.
Pitch data or POV
Data. I love the way you can tell stories with numbers.
